FBF: The Adventures of Bomb & Chadivus - St. Patties Parade

I was just thinking about a fun St. Patties event I shared with my good buddy Chadivus. So why don't you join me in my Delorean and we will be on our way back to March 17th, 2012 :)

Every year, Chad likes to go to the Saint Patrick's day parade.
The Saint Patrick's Parade is put on by a group by the name of The Hibernian Society of Utah. It was formed to preserve & share the history, culture & traditions of the Irish community with the people of Utah.

The gateway mall, which is an outdoor mall, is where it all takes place.

I met up with Chad and we walked to the best spot to see the parade, which is under the bridge at the south end of the mall. We made sure we got there early to set up and to enjoy our Irish Coffees until the parade was ready to start. Irish coffee is the best! It's basically hot coffee made to your liking with Irish Whiskey mixed in. Derish!

And then....the parade started! I didn't get very many pictures...but these will do :)

Just when I thought the morning was over, Chad said we were going Bar Hopping. AT 11 AM IN THE MORNING!!!
Was this even legal?!......in Utah?!?

So, we were on our way to the St. Patties Bar Crawl, Day Edition!

First stop was the Jackalope Lounge. Though our home bar is Piper Down, We like the Jackalope a lot. It's a little hipster bar but it has cheap beers and is nice to go to every once in a while.
Now...The goal was to have a  beer and 1 shot at each location.

I present our first ones of the morning. I had these goofy glasses that we decided had to be in every beer/shot picture taken. We even got the bartender to flip the bird for our picture. SO PUNK ROCK!
Stop # 1 - Jackalope
We decided we probably should eat something. Luckily, right next door, there is a little pizza place called The Pie Hole
Stop # 2 - The Pie Hole
They serve pizza by the slice, which is super convenient.
They are also open till like 2 AM and 3 AM for the bar scene downtown.
Their pizza that day was even St. Patties themed!

Stop #3 - Juniors Tavern
Next stop was Juniors's Tavern. Juniors is a place Chad used to go to frequently. The reason? It is totally jazz/music themed.
The description from the Juniors Website is:

"Famous as the watering hole for an eclectic mixture of business people, musicians, poets, and sports fans, Juniors retains the tradition of the old fashioned neighborhood bar"

The cool thing was the car counter (as you can see to your left) is covered in sheet music.

After we left Juniors, we were feeling it for sure...

The next & last destination of the morning was Johnny's on 2nd.

This is one of my least favorite bars, and by this point, we did not even want to touch the shots...and didn't finish the beers....
It was the end of the road for us. So we walked back to the gateway at about 2:30 (I believe) and went our separate ways.
I remember vividly, laying on my couch at 5:00 PM and texting him saying I was already hungover...

OOHHH and since it was Saint Patties day, the bars all had St. Patties swag. My collection ended up going on my good friend Clyde and he officially became my bead swag holder for a couple years.

Now instead of doing a bar crawl, its the parade and then spend the day at Piper Down. The past couple years, I have unfortunately had to miss the parade because of work. This Saturday will be the day and once again I have to miss it. But I at least was able to get an opening shift so that we can meet up with everyone at Piper later :)

THE END!
