Let's Paint a Happy Little Tree - Update Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of this update entry! I hope you enjoyed the first one as much as I enjoyed writing it :)

To start off, my boyfriend and I had been wanting to go to one of these cool new paint night events that are becoming so popular. Lucky for us, my cousin has her own company she started called Paint P-ART-Y. We decided to sign up for our first class which was 2 trees that make a heart in the middle. A perfect couple painting right?!

Being an artist, he realized that he would love to teach painting classes like this. And like that, my cousin hired him and I hired myself as his personal assistant of course! You can't have Batman without Robin right?

I've always loved being behind the scenes and setting things up. When we first met, he was in a band and I was their Merch girl so I helped set up stuff all the time. (As you may remember from an earlier entry). Then he decided to take on at home skin care parties. So I became the behind the scenes person who set up the parties and helped with extra supplies if needed. I have no idea why, but I love doing that kind of stuff. So it only made sense for me to help with this! :)

His first class was hosted at Ditta Caffe. This place is amazing! It's a small cafe run by 2 sisters (I believe) who bake pastries from scratch and use local businesses for all their meats, veggies and coffee! The back patio is literally like a scene straight out of Alice in Wonderland and at first, we were lucky enough to be able to set up back there. That is until the rain started to roll in...As fast as we could we grabbed everything and had to set up inside last minute before everyone showed up.

The painting of the night was seahorse's who make a heart. It had a water color feel to it :)

The next party we did was a private birthday party for an 11 year old girl and she wanted to do the owl painting! That was a lot of fun to be welcomed into someone else's home and teach them in a relaxed family setting! This group was a fun one  for sure!
I will leave info on P-ART-Y and Ditta Caffe at the end of this entry!

"I got the job" selfie
On to a new topic, I recently had to get a second job and with Halloween around the corner, obviously Halloween Stores are popping up everywhere! So of course I got a job at Halloween City! I am super pumped to work there and be surrounded by my favorite holiday! I haven't officially had a real first day due to the store not being open until today! I have just been going in for a couple hours to help set the store up, which obviously we all know I like to do! This Saturday I will officially begin and you bet I am going to take a first day selfie in my awesome orange apron! I was so excited after the interview I took a "I got the job" selfie. So, any Halloween costumes you may need, make sure you stop by a  Halloween City! (coughcoughBrickyard locationcoughcough)
 See you there!

Walk with the Animals, Talk with the animals :Update Part 1

"Well, it's true,we do not live in a zoo. But Man is an animal too. So why can't you, like me, like animals"
- Doctor Dolittle

So, I was thinking about how I kind of fell out of the blog life for a few months. This is an update blog on all the happenings with Crazy Cat Lady and to my surprise, it has actually been pretty eventful! This may have to be turned into a 2 part blog ;)

To start off, I officially became a crazy cat lady! Let us dig into a little history first. My whole life, I knew I wanted to do something with animals but I never quite knew what or how to go about it. My family has always called me the Animal Whisperer or Doctor Dolittle. I've always just had a way with animals and understood them so much more than humans. Not to mention, I get along with them better than humans most of the time. I didn't want to be a vet for 2 reasons. First, putting animals to sleep was not an enjoyable thought. Second, I'll be honest, I didn't want to put in the work it requires to get there. So that left me clueless and racking my brain for years about what I would like to do.

Flash forward to about 2 years ago. My friend at work got a job at the food bank and it made me realize I could do something non profit like that with animals. Pet Adoption! How could I do any better than helping animals find furever homes?! Curious, while at a pet adoption event, I asked the staff what the best way was to get a job with Best Friends Animal Society. Their answer? Volunteering. I then attempted to volunteer at the Adoption center itself, but soon realized I had no contact with the animals. I was just cleaning the kennels. Then, I came across a post on Facebook about their Kitten Nursery. How purrfect was that?! So I started the volunteering process there this July and have been going in at least 3 times a week, sometimes even pulling double shifts.

It's amazing how when you finally find something you truly enjoy, your drive to succeed just skyrockets. I go in every time in a great mood, ready to save lives, and leave in a great mood as well. How could you not when you get to feed & play with kittens?! It's even better when the staff personally tells you that you are awesome and really really good at it and other volunteers ask if your an intern, not a volunteer. They also have a foster program where you can foster the kittens to help socialize them before adoption! One day I will do that as well! Hopefully my hard work and dedication will stick and lead to a job with Best Friends.

To stick to the animal subject, my boyfriend and I also adopted a Ball Python from the Reptile Expo a few months ago. We went in just to look, saw the Reptile Rescue table and BAM! I fell in love with a snake. The rest of our time there, we literally didn't look at anything. We just walked around talking about whether it was a good idea or not to adopt her and what the expenses would be. Just like that we were the proud owners of a Ball Python and decided to name her Bellatrix. She unfortunately had a respiratory infection that we didn't know about, so the first few weeks definitely was a huge adjustment for both us and her considering we had to give her shots. But now she is a happy snake
and we love her!

This concludes Part 1 of the update blog. Please flip the tape over to hear Part 2 :)
